Coordinating Ministry Pushes for Immediate Groundwork on Priority Projects

The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) is urging all ministries and agencies to align their programme execution so that priority projects do not stall each other and the benefits can be immediately felt by the public. “Those that have received budget allocations should immediately carry out activities, particularly in the sectors of permanent housing, basic infrastructure, basic services, and public facilities,” said a Kemenko PMK representative during the Coordination Meeting for the Acceleration of the 2026 Additional Budget Realisation, held by the National Command Post of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) for Sumatra on Friday, 3 July 2026. The meeting was chaired by the Head of the National Command Post, Inspector General of Police Wahyu Bintono Hari Bawono, alongside the Acting Controller of Satgas PRR, Brigadier General TNI Andre Julian, and was attended by 32 ministries and agencies. Kemenko PMK assessed that accelerating recovery cannot be achieved by ministries and agencies working in isolation. Coordination and synchronisation must be continuously strengthened so that the implementation of one programme is not hampered by delays in another related programme, thereby making the rehabilitation and reconstruction process more effective. With coordinated execution, development across various priority sectors is expected to proceed in parallel. “However, do not forget that activities must still be guided by the jointly agreed Master Plan,” the Kemenko PMK representative added. To ensure targets are met, Kemenko PMK will conduct regular monitoring of the implementation of rehabilitation and reconstruction programmes. This evaluation serves as an instrument to identify obstacles early and to ensure that all ministries and agencies move in harmony according to the established targets. This oversight function is stipulated in the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Decree Number 25 of 2026. It states that the PRR Task Force is required to supervise the utilisation of recovery budgets to ensure they are on target and to prevent fund leakage. The Task Force also has full authority to identify and resolve physical execution bottlenecks. At the end of the meeting, Inspector General Wahyu Bintono Hari Bawono added that all elements, from ministries and agencies to regional governments, must always coordinate in implementing recovery programmes. “Prioritise synergy, mutual respect, and a spirit of helping one another in accordance with authority and applicable regulations,” he said. The coordination meeting followed up on a directive from the Head of the PRR Task Force, Tito Karnavian, two days earlier. He stressed that he would continue to oversee ministries and agencies that have received additional budget ceilings to immediately commence fieldwork. “Try to request programme data from ministries and agencies that have received budget allocations from the Ministry of Finance, broken down by target district/city. We will then hold a meeting with the disaster-affected regions so they know what will be worked on by the ministries and agencies in 2026,” he stated.
