Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs Supports Thorough Investigation into Officers' Deaths in Katingan Drug Operation

The Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polkam) has expressed its full support for a thorough investigation into the deaths of three Indonesian National Police personnel during a drug eradication operation in Tumbang Kalemei village, Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan. The three officers who died in the line of duty were Ipda (Anumerta) Sumaryanto, Aiptu (Anumerta) Yudhie Perdana Putra, and Briptu (Anumerta) Nopandri Ramadhana. Brigadier General TNI Honi Havana, Head of the Public Relations and Data Information Bureau at Kemenko Polkam, stated that the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, General (Ret.) Djamari Chaniago, conveyed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and the entire Indonesian National Police force. “At the direction of the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, we extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and the entire Indonesian National Police,” Honi said in a statement on Tuesday (7/7). According to Honi, the loss of the three personnel is a great loss to the nation and state. He noted that their dedication, courage, and sacrifice in combating the illicit drug trade serve as an example for all law enforcement officers. “The deaths of these three police personnel are a great loss to the nation and state. Their dedication, courage, and sacrifice in eradicating the illegal drug trade are an example for all law enforcement officers in maintaining security and protecting the public,” he said. Honi added that Kemenko Polkam pays the highest tribute to the three personnel who died in the line of duty. Their sacrifice is seen as a tangible manifestation of dedication and loyalty in protecting society from the dangers of narcotics. Kemenko Polkam also appreciated the National Police Chief’s decision to grant exceptional posthumous promotions to the three personnel as a form of state recognition for their service, dedication, and sacrifice. Honi further emphasised that eradicating drug abuse and trafficking is a shared commitment of all government elements. Therefore, Kemenko Polkam fully supports law enforcement officers in thoroughly investigating the perpetrators of the attack and dismantling the drug network involved in the incident. “Kemenko Polkam fully supports the steps taken by law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the perpetrators and dismantle the drug network involved, in accordance with the provisions of the law,” he said. Furthermore, Kemenko Polkam will continue to strengthen synergy among ministries and agencies under its coordination to restrict the space for drug networks that threaten public safety and the future of Indonesia’s generation, Honi concluded.
