Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polkam) has completed the construction of 39 permanent houses for flood-affected communities in Kuala Cangkoy village, North Aceh district.

An official press statement received by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday explained that the 39 units form part of a target of 104 housing units being built by Kemenko Polkam.

"I have been directly monitoring the construction process, which has proceeded smoothly — from the unloading of materials at Belawan Port through to their arrival in Kuala Cangkoy and safe assembly on site. I am confident the entire target can be completed by the end of March 2026," said Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago in the statement.

According to Djamari, the permanent housing represents a tangible expression of the government's concern for all disaster victims in Aceh.

The construction also symbolises collaboration between Kemenko Polkam, local government authorities and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in providing decent housing for flood victims, he added.

Construction of the remaining units by Kemenko Polkam is still under way.

Djamari expressed his hope that the work could be expedited so that residents might enjoy the warmth of family togetherness in their new homes during the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan.

"I hope the remaining houses will be completed soon so that the community can have decent permanent housing," Djamari said.
