Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming Formed, Rosan Speaks on BKPM Policy Direction
JAKARTA — The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, has spoken regarding the policy and operational direction of his agency following the formation of the Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming and Energy Transition.
Speaking after the opening ceremony of the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2026, Rosan stated that his office is currently awaiting official instructions regarding the new division of duties. However, he has not yet disclosed whether the coordination mechanism will be regulated through a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) or another legal framework.
“We are just waiting for direction. We are waiting for direction,” Rosan said at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (6/10/2026).
Despite the official formation of the Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, Rosan ensured that the operations of the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM will continue to run normally. He emphasised the importance of intensive communication and coordination between agencies under the new government structure.
“We will simply follow along; the important thing is that we maintain good coordination,” Rosante expressed.
This development follows the inauguration of Bahlil Lahadalia by President Prabowo Subianto as the Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (1/10/2026). The appointment was based on Presidential Decree Number 104P of 2025 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Ministers of the Red and White Cabinet for the 2024–2029 period.
Through this new position, Bahlil now holds a dual role, serving as the Coordinating Minister while continuing his duties as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
