Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment (Kemenko PM) has expressed its appreciation for the strategic collaboration between Baznas RI and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan through the launch of the 2026 Baznas Social Security (JSB) programme for vulnerable workers.

Dyah Tri Kumolosari, Deputy for the Coordination of Social Welfare Improvement at Kemenko PM, stated that this programme is vital as the assistance for Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Benefits (JKM) targets 100,000 informal workers and communities in underdeveloped areas, ensuring an economic safety net.

“Our thanks go to Baznas and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, who, alongside the government, are present to assist the poor and underprivileged. This programme should continue for the 100,000 workers in need, ranging from informal workers to communities in underdeveloped regions,” she said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

Dyah noted that this protection scheme is crucial to prevent poor families from falling into even more vulnerable economic conditions when accidents or work-related mishaps occur.

“If such risks occur, it does not only affect the worker but also their children and families at home. Therefore, if a disaster occurs during work, or results in death or disability, they will receive compensation from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan,” Dyah added.

Similarly, the Mayor of South Tangerang, Pilar Saga Ichsan, appreciated the presence of the social security assistance and community empowerment programme initiated by the ministry, Baznas, and BPJS Ketenagkerjaan.

“On behalf of the South Tangerang City Government, representing the Mayor, we certainly express our appreciation and gratitude to the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment of the Republic of Indonesia and also Baznas for bringing this programme to the people of South Tangerang,” said Pilar.

It is known that the Baznas Social Security programme consists of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan membership assistance, specifically for Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Benefits (JKM) for a period of six months. Beneficiaries are vulnerable workers who meet the criteria as ‘mustahik’ (zakat recipients).

The programme targets 100,000 vulnerable workers in at least 10 priority provinces. Of this number, 30 per cent of beneficiaries are targeted from frontier, outermost, and least developed (3T) regions, while the remaining 70 per cent will come from other areas, considering economic vulnerability and zakat recipient criteria.

The programme’s beneficiaries include Quran teachers, preachers, mosque imams and caretakers, pesantren educators, farmers, fishermen, micro-entrepreneurs, small traders, daily casual labourers, productive persons with disabilities, and other informal sector workers who meet the mustahik criteria.
