Coordinating Ministry Established to Accelerate Energy Transition Execution
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, Bahlability Lahadalia, stated that the formation of this new coordinating ministry is intended to accelerate the execution of downstreaming and energy transition targets set by President Prabowo Subianto.
Speaking after his inauguration at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, Bahlil, who also serves as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), said he would perform his duties effectively in both roles, particularly in achieving downstreaming and energy transition, which are key components of President Prabowo’s ‘Asta Cita’ programme.
“We know that the President has programmes, one of which in the Asta Cita is about downstreaming and energy transition, and we must be able to consolidate this through the Coordinating Ministry to ensure we can accelerate execution moving forward,” said Coordinating Minister Bahlil.
He stated that the new ministry will act as a coordinator for relevant ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming, to achieve these objectives.
The office for the coordinating ministry will currently remain within the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
“The office will remain at the Ministry of ESDM while we monitor developments. This is because our focus is on downstreaming, and of the total investment, 90 per cent is within the ESDM sector,” Bahlil added.
Regarding the specific ministries and agencies that will fall under the jurisdiction of the Coordinating Ministry for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, Bahlil noted that he is awaiting the presidential regulation concerning the formation of the coordinating ministry.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Chief of the National Police and several ministers and deputy ministers in the Red and White Cabinet at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday.
In addition to Bahlil, the President also inaugurated Suyudi Ario Seto as the Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Minister of PMK Sugiono, Chief of Staff to the President Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security Dudung Abdurachman, Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir, Minister of Industry Sarmuji, Head of the National Agrarian Reform Agency Dedy Prasetyo, and Deputy Head of the North Coast Authority Commissioner General Fadhil Imran.
Also inaugurated were the Deputy Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Dradjad Hari Wibowo, Deputy Finance Minister Nurkolisoh Ibnu Aman, Deputy Finance Minister Luky Afirman, and Deputy Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Irwan Meilano.
