Coordinating Minister Zulkifli Hasan pushes for development of stem cell technology ecosystem

Semarang (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister (Menko) for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan is pushing for the development of a domestic ecosystem for stem cell or stem cell technology.

“It turns out we are no less than any other country. Here, there is a research centre for stem cells and cancer,” said Coordinating Minister Zulkifli Hasan during his visit to Stem Cell and Cancer Research (SCCR) Indonesia in Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday.

According to him, research on stem cell technology will become something extraordinary if it can be pursued diligently.

“Many Indonesians go abroad, but it turns out we already have the laboratories here, with all the facilities,” said Coordinating Minister Zulkifli Hasan.

He added that the prices offered are also cheaper than abroad because the entire process is carried out by Indonesia’s best sons and daughters.

“We are building integration between education, research, and the development of international-standard stem cells, up to the downstreaming of science-based food products,” said Putra Agung.

According to him, mastery of research and innovation proves that the Indonesian nation is becoming a great and independent nation in producing high-tech-based products.
