Coordinating Minister Zulhas Urges Nutrition Service Units to Obtain Hygiene Certificates to Guarantee MBG Quality

Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan has urged Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) to obtain Hygiene Sanitation Feasibility Certificates (SLHS) in order to further guarantee the quality of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme’s food production.

“This [SPPG Dapur Nikmat Barokah Surabaya] can serve as a reference and an example, as it already holds an SLHS. There are still some that have not yet been built or have not completed their SLHS certification,” he said in Surabaya on Thursday.

Zulkifli noted that there are a total of 2,110 SPPG units in Surabaya and expressed his appreciation that more than half of those in the City of Heroes have already secured SLHS certification, with some even obtaining halal certification.

One unit that has obtained both SLHS and halal certification is SPPG Dapur Nikmat Barokah Kedung Asem in Rungkut, Surabaya, which has also been staffed with nutritionists.

“So this is already in compliance with the standards set by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN),” Zulkifli said.

He expressed hope that other SPPG units would follow the example of SPPG Dapur Nikmat Barokah Kedung Asem, as it meets the standards established by the BGN.

“This can serve as a model for other SPPG units because it already meets safety standards, holds SLHS certification, and has sufficient nutritionists,” he said.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, as of January 2026, a total of 4,535 SPPG units serving the MBG programme had passed SLHS certification.

That figure represents just 23 per cent of the 19,188 SPPG units established across Indonesia, meaning health offices in various regions need to continue increasing the percentage of SPPG units achieving SLHS certification.
