Malang, East Java (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan hopes that the existence of the Indonesian Nutritious Food Entrepreneurs Association (GAPEMBI) in East Java can become a partner for the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) in successfully implementing the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

Following his attendance at the inauguration of the GAPEMBI East Java board in Malang City, East Java, on Thursday, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan stated that GAPEMBI could assist BGN in providing guidance to managers of Nutritious Meals Service Units (SPPG) or Free Nutritious Meals kitchens.

“We hope this becomes BGN’s partner so that guidance can be carried out more quickly,” he said.

Additionally, he assessed that the involvement of multiple parties would facilitate coordination in implementing the MBG programme.

“The main responsibility lies with BGN, but now everyone is involved in supervision. I think that’s the way it should be,” he remarked.

The GAPEMBI board in East Java will also help ensure that all personnel at each SPPG in the province can operate services in accordance with BGN’s technical instructions and standard operating procedures (SOP).

“Don’t let there be any negligence regarding what BGN has established. For example, the halal list is not yet complete, or the hygiene and sanitation fitness certificate (SLHS) is not yet obtained,” he said.

His side does not want any more SPPGs to receive sanctions from BGN due to poor operations.

Therefore, Makhrus conveyed that the establishment of the provincial structure will be followed up by forming boards in each district and city across East Java so that the MBG programme can be received more evenly by children.

“Of course, we need to think about consumer protection and partner protection. This becomes our homework,” he stated.
