Coordinating Minister Zulhas Calls Upon Islamic Scholars to Strengthen National Unity Amid Global Uncertainty
Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan attended the commemoration (haul) of the late Raden KH. Abdul Hamid bin Itsbat at Al-Hamidy Islamic Boarding School in Banyuanyar, Pamekasan, Madura. The solemn event was attended by tens of thousands of worshippers from various regions across Indonesia.
During the occasion, Coordinating Minister Zulhas stressed the crucial role of Islamic scholars in maintaining religious community unity amid an uncertain global situation. This represents a follow-up to President Prabowo’s directive from a meeting with Islamic scholars at the presidential palace.
According to Zulhas, Islamic scholars possess a strategic role in preserving public tranquillity and strengthening national unity.
“Scholars have an important role in maintaining the unity of the religious community. Amidst various global challenges we currently face, solidarity and unity represent our strength as a nation,” Zulhas stated.
On the same occasion, Zulhas also conveyed that Indonesia’s food security remains well-maintained. He assured that food prices remain safe and affordable for the public despite conflicts in the Middle East affecting global market dynamics.
“Praise be to God, food prices remain safe and affordable. The government continues to work to maintain stability in food supply and pricing so that the public remains calm,” he added.
Zulhas also expressed admiration for KH. Abdul Hamid, known as a charismatic Islamic scholar with strong nationalist and religious spirit.
During the commemoration event, Coordinating Minister Zulhas was accompanied by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, East Java Deputy Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak, and Brawijaya Military Command V Commander Major General Rudy Saladin.
