Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra has invited everyone to open their hearts to forgive one another during the Eid al-Fitr moment in 2026.

He stated that for the past month, Muslims have observed the fast, abstaining from hunger and thirst, restraining their hearts from unworthy matters, and guarding their thoughts from negative ideas.

“We have made the past Ramadan a month of training to strengthen our faith. May we become pious individuals,” said Yusril in a video statement confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday.

Therefore, he hopes that Allah SWT grants forgiveness to all His followers, and that they in turn forgive each other for any past mistakes.

Yusril also hopes that blessings accompany this noble Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah and extends Eid al-Fitr greetings to Muslims wherever they may be.

“Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum, taqabbal ya karim. May this year’s Eid al-Fitr bring blessings, peace, and prosperity to us all,” he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has set Eid al-Fitr, 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijriah, to fall on Saturday.

“Based on calculations and the absence of the crescent moon sighting, it is agreed that 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijriah falls on Saturday, 21 March 2026,” said Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar at the Press Conference of the Isbat Session for 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijriah at the Ministry of Religious Affairs office in Jakarta on Thursday (19/3).

He explained that the decision was made following the results of the moon sighting conducted by the Calculation and Sighting Team of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, which indicated that the crescent moon’s height across all regions of Indonesia did not meet the criteria set by the Ministers of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore (MABIMS).
