The Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, stated that legal administrative services are no longer time-consuming and now only require a matter of hours. Furthermore, services are currently conducted digitally to ensure faster results.

During his previous tenure as the Minister of Law and Legislation, he implemented reforms in General Legal Administrative (AHU) services. This included restructuring the Directorate General of General Legal Administration and the Directorate General of Legislation.

At that time, he noted that the government began pioneering technology-based legal service systems. The process for establishing legal entities previously required a long time, and even checking a company name could take up to three months.

Yusril stated that such conditions not only hindered the business world but also created opportunities for illegal levies through ‘fast-track’ channels. Indeed, Indonesia had previously faced criticism for being perceived as slow.

His office subsequently pioneered the formation of an integrated public service system, including the collection of fingerprints, and initiated the single identity number system, which tracks a citizen’s life cycle from birth to marriage.

“Today, approvals that used to take months can be completed in four days or even just a few hours,” he said during the AHU Impactful Festival on Monday (31/8/2026).

He added that legal administration is not merely a matter of recording and managing data. Rather, it provides certainty regarding the rights, obligations, and legal status of citizens, meaning the quality of AHU services serves as a measure of the quality of a constitutional state.

“The quality of service provided by the Directorate General of AHU is a reflection of Indonesia’s quality as a state governed by law,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, stated that data integration between agencies is necessary so that the public does not have to act as a link between different government systems. This integration will also be developed with the Directorate General of Immigration and Correctional Services regarding citizenship services, as well as with the Ministry of Finance concerning corporate data.
