Coordinating Minister Pratikno Seeks Sultan HB X's Support for National Programmes
The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, Pratikno, has requested the support of the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Sri Sultan Hamenglar Hamengku Buwono X, to ensure the success of several national programmes set for imminent launch. The request was made during a meeting between the two at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta, on Friday (3/7/2026).
Pratikno explained that his visit to Yogyakarta was intended to discuss and seek input from Sultan HB X regarding the implementation of several national agendas under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Kemenko PMK).
“We at Kemenko PMK are requesting assistance from Ngarsa Dalem because we have several national programmes. We will be launching several national programmes very soon,” Pratikno explained following the meeting with the Sultan.
One of the programmes to be implemented shortly is the RANA Movement (Safe and Comfortable Space for Children), which coincides with the new student enrolment period. “As there is the intake of new students, we are launching the RANA movement at the national level. Children must be guaranteed safety and comfort, whether in the family home, educational institutions, public spaces, or digital environments,” he elaborated.
According to Pratikno, DIY was selected as one of the regions expected to serve as a model, given its many innovations in the fields of education and child protection. Therefore, support from Sultan HB X is considered vital in strengthening the implementation of the programme.
“For that reason, we are seeking support from Ngarsa Dalem for DIY, as DIY is an educational city with many initiatives being undertaken,” Pratikno stated.
In addition to the RANA Movement, the meeting also addressed the strengthening of inclusive education, particularly for persons with disabilities. Pratikno noted that the government is learning from various best practices already implemented in Yogyakarta.
“Therefore, the RANA movement will also be implemented in Jogja. Beyond that, we are also learning from Jogja regarding various initiatives. For instance, we discussed education for those with disabilities,” he added.
He cited the development of sign language education programmes, which are intended not only for deaf children but also for hearing children to ensure effective communication can be established.
Pratikno also revealed that Sultan HB X provided input to further strengthen training for persons with disabilities so they may have greater opportunities to enter the workforce.
“Once again, no one is left behind. Persons with disabilities must have the same access to education and employment opportunities. We express our gratitude because there is much inspiration to be gained from the best practices in DIY,” he explained.
Furthermore, Pratikno mentioned that the launch of these cross-ministerial programmes will be carried out in stages. The Ministry of Religious Affairs is scheduled to begin implementation on 12 July 2026, followed by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education the day after.
