Coordinating Minister Pratikno Seeks Sultan HB X's Support for National Programmes

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno has requested the support of the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, to ensure the success of several national programmes set to be launched soon. The request was made during a meeting at the Kepatihan Complex in Yogyakarta on Friday. Pratikno explained that his visit to Yogyakarta was to discuss and seek input from Sultan HB X regarding the implementation of several national agendas under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture. “We at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture are asking for assistance from Ngarsa Dalem because we have several national programmes. We will soon be carrying out several national programmes,” Pratikno stated after the meeting. One of the programmes to be implemented soon is the RANA (Ruang Aman dan Nyaman untuk Anak) Movement, which coincides with the new student admissions period. “Soon, because of the new student admissions, we have the RANA movement at the national level, which stands for Safe and Comfortable Spaces for Children. Children must be guaranteed safety and comfort, whether in the family room, in educational units, in public spaces, or in the digital space,” he explained. According to Pratikno, DIY was chosen as one of the regions expected to serve as a model because it has many innovations in education and child protection. Therefore, support from Sultan HB X is considered crucial in strengthening the programme’s implementation. “That is why we are asking for support from Ngarsa Dalem for DIY, because DIY is an education city with many initiatives,” Pratikno said. Besides the RANA Movement, the meeting also discussed strengthening inclusive education, particularly for people with disabilities. Pratikno said the government is learning from the various good practices that have been implemented in Yogyakarta. He cited the development of a sign language education programme intended not only for deaf children but also for hearing children so that communication can be well established. Sultan HB X also provided input to strengthen training for people with disabilities so they have greater opportunities to enter the workforce. “Once again, no one left behind. People with disabilities also have equal access to education and job opportunities. We are grateful for the inspiration we can gain from the good practices in DIY,” he said. The cross-ministry programme launch will be carried out in stages. The Ministry of Religious Affairs is scheduled to begin implementation on 12 July 2026, followed by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education the next day.
