Coordinating Minister PMK: Integrated National Schools Transform Education Governance

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno has stated that the implementation of Integrated National Schools (SNT) is a form of educational governance transformation through the integration of several schools under one management. “Essentially, the Integrated National School is a governance transformation. So, it integrates institutions, where previously several schools become one school management,” Pratikno said during the Opening of the First Batch SNT Student Orientation Period in Bogor Regency, West Java, on Monday, broadcast via the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s YouTube channel. According to Pratikno, the integration of schools enables coordination across educational levels whilst ensuring the continuity of the curriculum applied between these levels. He added that school integration can also enhance service efficiency, as well as the development and utilisation of educational facilities and infrastructure. The transformation also encompasses educational infrastructure, including the integrated use of laboratories so that available facilities can be used more efficiently by students. “There is service efficiency, a shared football field between junior and senior high schools because they are integrated. The sports hall is also used by several schools, where previously two schools become one school, one unified entity. Infrastructure transformation includes laboratories and others as well, making it more efficient,” Pratikno said. He assessed that the integration is not only directed at improving students’ academic achievement but also provides space for developing pupils’ potential in arts and sports. Therefore, he requested the support of regional leaders to oversee the implementation of SNT so the programme can run optimally. “I ask for support from regional leaders to oversee this implementation,” he stated. Pratikno also invited regional heads whose areas do not yet have an SNT to participate in developing the programme by increasing the number of SNTs in the future. “And also to other regional heads who do not yet have one, please participate in adding more SNTs going forward,” Pratikno said.
