Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that the National Internship (MagangHub) programme is a strategic initiative designed to increase national productivity and drive the 6 per cent economic growth target.

“In 2026, (economic growth) is expected to be in the range of 5.6 per cent, moving towards 6 per cent in 2027,“ said Minister Airlangga in Jakarta on Tuesday.

“Regarding labour productivity, the government is launching an internship programme for university graduates, with a target of 150,000 participants this year,” he added.

In line with the National Internship programme, the Minister stated that the government is also promoting national productivity through the National Vocational Training programme, which targets more than 200,000 participants this year.

He added that both strategic programmes are expected to bridge the gap between the new young workforce and industrial requirements.

“This is certainly a significant figure, where through vocational training and six-month internships, it is hoped that these recent graduates can achieve a ‘link and match’ with the industrial sector,” said Minister Airlangga.

Meanwhile, registration for the second phase of the 2026 National Internship programme officially closed on 8 September.

Following the registration phase, participant selection will take place from 9–15 September 2026, with the selection results to be announced on 18 September 2026.

Furthermore, selected participants are scheduled to begin their internship programme on 21 September 2026.

The second phase of the 2026 National Internship is part of the target to reach 150,000 programme participants this year, with a quota of 50,000 participants per cohort.

On the other hand, the fifth phase of the National Vocational Training has been opened by the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) online via the Skillhub platform until 16 September 2026.

Participants who pass the initial selection must undergo an interview stage from 17–23 September 2026.

Subsequently, the announcement of participants who pass the fifth phase of the National Vocational Training will be made on 24 September 2026.
