Coordinating Minister Muhaimin: Worker Protection is the Foundation of Sustainable Economy
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (Menko PM) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar stated that protecting workers through social security for employment will safeguard the sustainability of businesses in the future.
“Social security for employment serves as an instrument for medium- and long-term investment and is an important part of the empowerment ecosystem. Protecting our workers today means protecting the sustainability of businesses in the future,” said Coordinating Minister Muhaimin Iskandar in Jakarta on Friday (8/5).
At the 2025 Paritrana Social Security for Employment Award presentation event, he said that worker protection is a key concern for the global investment community.
Many investors, he added, are beginning to consider ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) aspects in making investment decisions.
“Labour social security is one characteristic of a credible and sustainable company because it has high ESG value. The better a company protects its workers, the better its image in the eyes of investors,” said Muhaimin Iskandar.
Meanwhile, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan President Director Saiful Hidayat expressed appreciation to all award recipients while emphasising the importance of strengthening cross-sector collaboration to expand the coverage of social security for employment protection.
“Appreciation to all the award recipients. This demonstrates the importance of synergy between the central government, local governments, the business world, village governments, and all stakeholders,” said Saiful Hidayat.
According to him, protection for vulnerable workers cannot be done partially but requires a collective movement involving all stakeholders.
Saiful hopes that the Paritrana Award will not only serve as a form of appreciation for the recipients but also be able to drive the emergence of a sustainable collaborative movement to expand social security for employment protection throughout Indonesia.
“The Paritrana Social Security for Employment Award is not just an awards event but is also expected to act as a catalyst in encouraging positive competition among regions and business actors to bring innovations in worker protection,” said Saiful Hidayat.
