Coordinating Minister Muhaimin urges Sekolah Rakyat graduates to become empowerment agents

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar is encouraging graduates of the Sekolah Rakyat to become agents of empowerment. “Graduates of Sekolah Rakyat must become agents of empowerment, where talented students will continue to be given adequate access. Students with the capacity to become scientists are also well-channeled, and those taking certain professions are perfectly prepared,” said the Coordinating Minister during an event titled “One Year of the Sekolah Rakyat Programme Journey: Strategic Achievements and Synergy for Sustainability”, in Jakarta on Wednesday. He stated that over one year of the Sekolah Rakyat’s journey, its development has been rapid and highly effective in enlightening the nation’s children. Therefore, the existence of Sekolah Rakyat has become the main hope in efforts to tackle poverty in the country. To date, there are 166 Sekolah Rakyat established and operating in 34 provinces in Indonesia, with 14,936,000 pupils from poor families. Sekolah Rakyat facilities are designed holistically, providing free dormitory-based education with complete facilities to support students’ lives and learning for 24 hours. The main facilities include classrooms, student/teacher dormitories, laboratories, libraries, sports fields, places of worship, and health services.
