Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Affairs Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar advised prospective Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) to work professionally, with integrity, and to uphold Indonesia’s good name while employed in destination countries. “The key is your professionalism, your integrity, and your cultural commitment to maintaining Indonesia’s good name. All PMIs must work with heads held high, boldly, confidently, professionally; your skills are no less than those from other countries. This is the Red and White that we will continue to uphold,” said Coordinating Minister Muhaimin Iskandar. He made these remarks at the send-off event for PMIs to Japan as part of the SMK Go Global programme at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, on Friday. Muhaimin Iskandar also reminded the PMIs to keep learning because the work world is always changing. A total of 200 prospective PMIs were dispatched to Japan through the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) scheme in the manufacturing sector as an initial phase (piloting) supported by state-owned enterprise (BUMN) CSR financing. This activity is a concrete implementation of SMK Go Global, designed to prepare Indonesian talents to compete at the international level while serving as a representation of the national workforce’s quality. The prospective PMIs were dispatched through various collaborative programmes, consisting of 50 people via PT Angkasa Pura’s CSR programme, 30 people via PT Kereta Api Indonesia’s CSR programme, and 120 people through facilitation by Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Companies (P3MI).
