Coordinating Minister: Mastery of Technology Supports National Progress
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Sugiono said a country’s ability to master technology was one of the key factors supporting national progress.
“We understand that a country’s success and greatness are also determined by how well it can master technology,” Minister Sugiono told reporters after visiting MAN 4 Jakarta on Wednesday.
In this regard, he stressed the importance of young Indonesians mastering technology, including through education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
To support this, the government has introduced the Garuda Excellence Schools programme, Sugiono said.
He said the programme was part of the government’s efforts to transform education and prepare highly capable human resources by providing Indonesians with access to quality education.
Sugiono said he hoped the Garuda Excellence Schools would give young Indonesians a good education, including the opportunity to pursue further studies at leading universities around the world, enabling them to contribute to Indonesia’s progress.
He previously said there were 51 Garuda Excellence Schools during the first two years of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s administration. The 51 schools comprise four newly established Garuda Excellence Senior High Schools and 47 schools in the Garuda Excellence Transformation programme.
“Four have been completed, and 47 are in the transformation programme, making 51,” he said.
