Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar said the sustainability of the National Health Insurance (JKN) programme could be maintained, among other ways, through a massive collective effort involving many parties.

“Through this collective effort, the healthy help the sick,” Muhaimin said in remarks at the 2026 Satya JKN Awards in Jakarta on Friday.

Muhaimin said all parties should work to maintain the programme’s sustainability because it delivers significant benefits, including improving worker productivity, reducing people’s expenditure and helping to tackle poverty.

“The National Health Insurance programme helps tackle poverty, reduce expenditure and increase productivity, while bringing a range of major benefits to the continued wellbeing of the Indonesian nation,” he said.

Muhaimin also praised businesses that work with the government to run JKN by paying contributions for their employees. He commended local governments for maintaining their commitment to the programme.

“On behalf of the central government, I would like to express my appreciation and, of course, recognition to local governments for their commitment to the success of the BPJS programme,” Muhaimin said.

He also welcomed the Satya JKN Awards. The awards recognise and honour businesses for their compliance and sustained commitment to the implementation of the National Health Insurance programme.

Earlier at the same event, BPJS Health Supervisory Board chairman Stevanus Adrianto Passat likewise said collective effort was key to the sustainability of JKN.
