Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, has requested that Indonesian ambassadors in various countries prepare placement schemes for prospective Indonesian migrant workers abroad. “I have instructed the ambassadors in various countries to immediately prepare a more detailed business process scheme so that each ambassador can report to us on the preparations for recruiting our migrant workers,” said Coordinating Minister Muhaimin Iskandar in Jakarta on Tuesday. This directive was issued in conjunction with the planned deployment of Indonesian migrant workers who are graduates of the SMK Go Global programme. The SMK Go Global programme is an initiative by the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment and the Ministry of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (KemenP2MI) to improve the quality of domestic secondary school graduates so that they can work abroad. In the near future, Coordinating Minister Muhaimin Iskandar, together with Minister of P2MI Mukhtarudin, will hold a meeting with the ambassadors to discuss the prospects for placing migrant workers and the preparations for the departure of SMK and high school graduate migrant workers. Starting in April 2026, the government will send skilled Indonesian migrant workers to Japan, South Korea, Europe, America, and various other countries, with job opportunities including welders, hospitality staff, and healthcare workers. “The minimum target is 300,000 to 500,000 migrant workers. God willing, starting in April, June, July, and September, we will be ready to send skilled workers to various countries,” said Muhaimin Iskandar. According to him, the opportunities for Indonesian migrant workers to work abroad are very large. “The potential market is indeed very large and good. The salaries are high, the social security and insurance are also good, so these are the opportunities that we will promote,” said Muhaimin Iskandar.
