Coordinating Minister: Housing Sector Improves Public Welfare

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono has stated that the housing sector is one of the national development priorities with a broad impact on improving public welfare. According to him, collaboration across ministries, local governments, financing institutions, and the private sector is key to accelerating the provision of quality and affordable homes. “This programme is not just about building houses, but also about building hope, improving the quality of life for the community, and strengthening the foundation for inclusive and sustainable development. The Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development will continue to ensure synergy among all stakeholders so that the national housing development targets can be achieved,” AHY said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday. He stressed that the housing programme is not merely about constructing buildings, but about building hope, enhancing the community’s quality of life, and reinforcing the foundation of inclusive and sustainable development. The Public Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera) recorded that the realisation of subsidised mortgage distribution through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) scheme had reached 121,363 units as of 31 July 2026. Deputy Commissioner for Fund Utilisation at BP Tapera, Sid Herdi Kusuma, said that in addition to the realised figures, tens of thousands of applications are still being processed up to the contract stage. He added that from the supply side, 21,077 subsidised housing units are currently available for purchase by the public. BP Tapera previously noted that subsidised homes under the FLPP scheme are in demand among millennials and Gen Z. BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho stated that the realisation of FLPP fund distribution for subsidised housing in 2025 amounted to 278,868 units, with approximately 62 per cent accessed by Gen Z and millennials aged 19 to 30 years.
