Coordinating Minister: Graduates Must Continue Learning to Foster Innovation and Creativity
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, has reminded graduates to continue learning, adapting, and transforming their knowledge into tangible works and contributions for society.
“I want to convey a reality that we must anticipate together, especially to all new graduates: do not stop at this point. Continue to learn, to improve, and to perfect all the scientific knowledge, achievements, experiences, teachings, and education obtained from our beloved universities,” he stated in a briefing in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He made these remarks while attending the 36th Graduation Ceremony of Ibrahimy University in Situbondo, East Java.
He encouraged higher education institutions to move away from ‘business as usual’ by strengthening innovation, creativity, and collaboration.
“Progress is not only in Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, or Medan. Progress can grow and become a primary strength anywhere, including Situbondo, if we remain steadfast and consistent in our foundation of science and technology,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of the younger generation’s ability to continue learning and updating their knowledge after completing formal education.
Graduates are required to be able to adapt to change while utilising technological developments to create new solutions.
He also encouraged new graduates to take on roles as a generation that brings change and improvement to the nation.
“Today’s graduates are entering a world that is changing much faster. Developments in information technology, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence (AI) have changed how humans work, learn, and solve various problems. The development of AI is also blurring the boundaries between human labour and technology,” he said.
According to him, the ability to adapt to technology must go hand-in-hand with strengthening human values to ensure that technological progress continues to benefit society.
“We must truly be able to adapt and position ourselves amidst various forms of artificial intelligence, guided by our human values,” said Muhaimin Iskandar.
