Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Swears in Three Members/Deputies of Batam Authority
Batam — Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto swore in three members and deputies of the Batam Authority (BP Batam) in the Riau Islands at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy office in Jakarta.
The three BP Batam officials are Syarlin Joyo as Member/Deputy for Regional Management, Fary Francis as Member/Deputy for Investment, and Denny Tondano as Member/Deputy for Operations.
“Congratulations to the three newly sworn-in members and deputies. Maintain integrity and together we shall optimise economic growth and the competitiveness of Batam City,” said Airlangga in an official statement received in Batam on Friday.
The swearing-in follows the adoption of the Free Trade and Free Port Area (KPBPB) Batam Regional Council Regulation Number 1 of 2026 on the Organisation and Procedures of BP Batam.
The measure aims to strengthen organisational governance and enhance the effectiveness of strategic policy implementation in regional management.
Airlangga, who also serves as Chair of the KPBPB Batam Regional Council, explained that there have been adjustments to the nomenclature and duties and functions of the three members and deputies within BP Batam.
These adjustments were made to strengthen BP Batam’s organisational structure and drive investment growth and regional management in Batam.
BP Batam Head Amsakar Achmad stated that the organisational restructuring is expected to improve the effectiveness of coordination and accelerate policy-making in developing Batam as a competitive investment region at regional and global levels.
“We are optimistic that this strengthening of BP Batam’s organisational structure will drive improvements in the quality of public services and reinforce Batam’s role as one of the engines of national economic growth,” said Amsakar.
Additionally, Amsakar noted that the institutional transformation was undertaken to promote more effective and efficient governance at BP Batam.
