The Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) General (ret.) Djamari Chaniago visited and conducted a direct inspection of the progress of development in the Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) area, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, on Tuesday (3 March 2026). He carried out the IKN inspection as part of the Polkam Coordinating Ministry’s duties to support coordination of the defence and security system development in the IKN area, including coordination of digital infrastructure development and cyber security. “The Nusantara Capital City is a place that will be a source of pride for us all, with a fairly wide area, and here it will be a good seat of government supported by an advanced defence and security system for the interests of this nation,” he said after finishing the Dzuhur prayers at the IKN National Mosque. After inspecting the State Palace, the Ministers’ Complex, and the office building of the Coordinating Ministry, the Ministerial coordinating Polkam expressed pride and gratitude to see the work of the nation’s children here. “I feel lucky and proud to come here to see the Ibu Kota Nusantara, accompanied by the Governor and the Head of the IKN Authority, I have been told a lot about the development and progress of the Nusantara City,” he said. According to Djamari, the government buildings in IKN already meet standards fit for immediate occupancy by ministry personnel who are the first priority to depart for or relocate to IKN. “The buildings meet decent living standards; hopefully in the near future, perhaps some ministries whose personnel are ready may already be able to move in here. Because all facilities exist, from housing, hospitals, schools, even markets and an airport are already here,” he explained. He also urged Basuki Hadimuljono, the Head of the IKN Authority, to stay healthy so that he can complete his duties in IKN, and that the presence of IKN can also benefit the East Kalimantan Provincial Government. During the event he also planted a Nyatoh tree (Palaquium Rostratum), hoped to grow and enhance the green environment in IKN. He was accompanied by East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas’ud, the Secretary of State for Polkam Mochammad Hasan (Lieutenant General TNI), the VI/Mulawarman Commander Krido Pramono (Major General TNI), Deputy for Poldagri Policy and Public Administration Affairs Heri Wiranto (Major General TNI, Ret.), East Kalimantan’s Deputy Police Chief Brig Gen Adrianto Jossy Kusumo, the Dhomber Air Base Balikpapan Commander Colonel Kisworo, and other related officials.
