Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs ensures regional SRMA facilities are of high quality
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam), Djamari Chaniago, has ensured that facilities at Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Atas (SRMA) in the regions are of adequate quality and that teaching staff are of high calibre. He conducted the checks by visiting SRMAs in the region, including one located in Riau, on Thursday (5 February). In an official press release received in Jakarta on Friday, it was stated that Djamari inspected all 31 SRMAs in Pekanbaru, Riau, on Thursday (5 March). ‘We visit such folk schools to determine whether there are any problems, whether they are not on target, whether the targets have been achieved in line with the government’s aims,’ he said in the press release. Djamari also praised the schools for the development of SRMA 31 Pekanbaru, which he said shows significant progress in a relatively short period since its establishment about seven months ago. He said the achievement was the result of joint work by various parties, from the schools, local government, to the relevant agencies. ‘Of course, this is not the work of one person alone, but the result of the collaboration of various supporting elements,’ he added. Djamari also took time to meet with the teachers there. He urged the teachers to educate students with all their heart and not hesitate to correct students’ behaviour and mindset if something is wrong. He said this is part of teachers’ responsibilities so that students have strong mental fortitude and noble morals for the future of the pupils themselves. With this visit, Djamari hopes that the pupils and teachers at SRMA in Riau will be more enthusiastic in carrying out teaching and learning activities.
