Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Urges Public to Comprehend Government Programmes Holistically
The Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, General (Ret.) Djamari Chaniago, has requested that the public wisely understand government programmes holistically and avoid viewing policies from only one side.
“Every programme is designed to address needs and improve the welfare of the community,” said Djamari during a working visit and social gathering with local government officials in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Saturday.
He emphasised that government programmes should be viewed as part of an ongoing development process, noting that no policy is immediately perfect and every deficiency serves as material for evaluation and subsequent improvement.
“These programmes should not be viewed in fragments. Indeed, there are people operating in the digital arena (social media) who deliberately fragment them,” he said.
He explained that the government continues to implement various programmes that impact the public, ranging from economic strengthening, education, and health, to the improvement of human resource quality as part of national development.
Djamari cited the ‘Program Sekolah Rakyat’ (People’s School Programme) as one of the government’s efforts to expand educational access while preparing the younger generation to face future challenges. According to him, development in the field of education is not only related to the teaching and learning process but also involves building community life through increased capacity and opportunities for the nation’s future generations.
He stated that the government recognises that the implementation of every programme still has shortcomings, necessitating continuous refinement so that the benefits can be felt more widely by the community. He also reaffirmed that all government policies are fundamentally directed towards the interests of the public, thus requiring collective support and understanding to ensure development proceeds according to its objectives.
“We hope that the public, alongside local governments, can maintain the spirit of development by viewing every programme in its entirety, including the ongoing improvement processes aimed at providing better services,” Djamari concluded.
