Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Urges Kostrad Forces to Strengthen Combat Capabilities
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago has called on Kostrad (Army Strategic Reserve Command) forces to strengthen their combat capabilities as the spearhead of ground defence.
This must be done because Kostrad is a large-scale force that plays a crucial role in carrying out security and offensive operations.
“Kostrad is a strategic force mobilised when the nation is in critical condition. Elite forces are built and trained every day, not just ahead of operations. There is no tolerance for even the slightest negligence,” Djamari told troops during a visit to the 2nd Infantry Division of Kostrad at the headquarters of the 18th Infantry Brigade (Trisula) in Malang, East Java, as stated in an official press release received in Jakarta on Tuesday.
In his briefing, Djamari emphasised that Kostrad serves as a strategic striking force deployed when the nation faces critical situations.
He therefore called on the 18th Infantry Brigade (Trisula), as part of Kostrad’s core strength, to remain combat-ready at all times, capable of rapid deployment, and possessing high strike power.
Djamari also highlighted the importance of competent and principled leadership among officers within the Kostrad ranks.
A leader, he said, must understand the capabilities of their subordinates and continuously drive improvements in unit capacity.
“Elite forces are defined by leaders who stand at the front, not behind. The chain of command must be firm, clear, and respected by all unit members,” Djamari said.
“The quality of a unit is largely determined by the quality of the officers who lead it,” he added.
With this visit and briefing, Djamari expressed his hope that the personnel and officers of the 2nd Infantry Division of Kostrad at the 18th Infantry Brigade (Trisula) headquarters would be further motivated to continuously improve their capabilities in defending the nation.
