Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure Emphasises Synergy in Equitable Regional Development

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Menko IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has emphasised synergy in equitable regional development. He stressed that the government continues to promote infrastructure development as the foundation of national economic growth and a means of equitable welfare distribution. “We want to ensure that development is not only concentrated in big cities, but also reaches villages and regions that have so far been left behind,” AHY stated in his remarks in Jakarta on Monday. The development of toll roads, improvements to national roads, industrial zone development, and enhancements to public facilities are part of the government’s commitment to supporting communities in the regions. AHY reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuously improving connectivity and accessibility across all regions of Indonesia to promote more equitable and just development. AHY also highlighted the challenges of climate change, which have now become part of global economic risks. Therefore, infrastructure development needs to be designed to face future conditions and strengthen national resilience. AHY emphasised that national infrastructure development must be directed to support food security, strengthen logistics connectivity, and promote equitable growth across regions throughout Indonesia. In addition to strengthening national resilience, AHY stressed the importance of partnerships between the government and the business world to accelerate credible, transparent, and investment-ready strategic projects, to support the economic transformation towards Golden Indonesia 2045.
