Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno is pushing for the data collection and evacuation of earthquake victims in North Sulawesi (Sulut) and North Maluku (Malut) to be carried out swiftly. Pratikno stated that the safety of the victims is the top priority.

“Please continue as mentioned earlier; the importance of data collection, the importance of searching for and evacuating victims. Human safety is the utmost priority. Therefore, in the initial stages, search, rescue, and evacuation of victims must be carried out as quickly as possible to provide the best services,” Pratikno said during an online coordination meeting (rakor) with the Head of BNPB, BMKG, and Basarnas on Thursday (2/4/2026).

Pratikno noted that information regarding victim data cannot be underestimated. This requires information to be conveyed quickly for the safety of the public.

“Once again, we cannot underestimate information; receiving information as soon as possible is very important because every second and minute is precious for our safety, for human safety, for the safety of the community,” he said.

Pratikno also urged regional heads to immediately conduct assessments. This aligns with the directives from the Head of BNPB regarding the importance of assessments in the regions.

“The Head of BNPB also mentioned the emergency status, which serves as the legal basis for us in the central government to act. So, please use the points conveyed by the Head of BNPB as a reference for all of you. Governors, Mayors, Regents, and also from the ranks of TNI-Polri,” he said.

Pratikno also conveyed deep condolences over the fatalities in this disaster. Pratikno also expressed concern over the victims.

“We are all saddened by this incident and at the same time extend our deepest condolences for the victims who have passed away in this disaster,” he said.
