Medan (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, has requested all mayors across Indonesia to optimise the National Movement for Safe and Comfortable Spaces for Children (Gernas Ranah) programme within their respective regions.

“I invite mayors throughout Indonesia to play an active role in this movement we have just launched,” Pratikno stated during his remarks delivered online at the Resilient City Dialogue Forum, part of the APEKSI National Working Meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He noted that the movement is one of the government’s efforts to realise safe and comfortable spaces for children, both within educational settings and in public areas.

“The movement focuses on safe and comfortable spaces for children in five important areas,” he said.

Pratikno identified family, school environments, public spaces, digital spaces, and systems as the five critical pillars for ensuring child safety and comfort.

He emphasised that achieving these safe and comfortable spaces requires the involvement of all elements of society, including local governments.

According to him, city governments hold a crucial role in optimising this national programme within their respective jurisdictions.

He expressed confidence that through collaboration between governments and various societal elements, Indonesia’s development can prioritise sustainability.

“With a long-term commitment from all of us, we can transform cities into places that are healthier, more active, prosperous, safe, and comfortable for all of Indonesia,” he concluded.
