Coordinating Minister for Food distributes rice aid to 25,000 recipients in Mamuju

Mamuju (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan has distributed rice aid to 25,000 recipients classified as extremely poor or belonging to the first and second deciles in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province.

“This aid is given to families in the first and second deciles as a form of the government’s attention to the community,” Zulkifli Hasan said during the handover of social assistance at Ahmad Kirang Field, Mamuju.

The provision of rice aid to these families, he said, was based on the results of a coordination meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Food in June 2026. Based on the meeting’s decision, the ministry decided to provide 10 kilograms of rice per month for three months to more than 33 million families in the first and second decile categories.

“In West Sulawesi, 25,000 families in the first and second deciles will receive 10 kilograms of rice for three months, and the Mamuju Regent will add cooking oil assistance,” Zulkifli Hasan explained. “So, cooking oil aid is already being provided, and now because the price of eggs has fallen, I hope the Mamuju Regent can provide egg assistance to the community as a form of government concern over rising food prices.”

Before distributing the social assistance at Ahmad Kirang Field, the Coordinating Minister first held a farmers’ dialogue in Sinyoyoi Village, Kalukkul District, Mamuju Regency. In addition to speaking with several farmers, he also inspected the rice fields at the dialogue location.

Meanwhile, Nurhayati, a Mamuju resident who received the social assistance, expressed her happiness at receiving the aid. “This rice aid is very meaningful for us. I hope this kind of assistance can continue,” she said.
