Coordinating Minister for Food confirms subsidised fertiliser availability for Central Sulawesi farmers
Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan has confirmed the availability of subsidised fertiliser for farmers in Central Sulawesi ahead of the planting season. “The government is certainly present to ensure that farmers’ needs are truly met, that distribution runs smoothly, and that the fertiliser can be redeemed by farmers,” Zulhas said during a visit to Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, on Sunday. He emphasised the importance of fertiliser availability before the planting season to increase harvest yields while strengthening national food security in Central Sulawesi. “The smooth distribution of subsidised fertiliser is part of the government’s efforts to maintain agricultural productivity,” he stated. “Reform is needed through regulatory simplification and a 20 per cent reduction in the Maximum Retail Price for all types of subsidised fertiliser,” he added. He said the policy is expected to have a tangible impact by providing certainty for farmers to begin the planting season without being hindered by fertiliser availability. “Fertiliser will certainly be available before the planting season, in sufficient quantities, and at a discounted price,” he concluded.
