Purwokerto (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister (Menko) for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan has asked managers of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) to prioritise the national nutrition fulfilment mission in implementing the nutritious meal programme, rather than being solely profit-oriented.

“We are the suppliers for SPPG; the nutritious meal programme is not just a business matter. We are carrying the mission to advance Indonesian civilisation,” said Zulkifli Hasan, who is familiarly known as Zulhas, after attending a Lecture and Dialogue with Heads of SPPG and Foundation Partners throughout Banyumas at the Banyumas District Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership Building (PDM), Central Java, on Saturday.

He stated that the nutritious meal programme run through SPPG is part of the government’s strategic efforts to improve the quality of Indonesian human resources from an early age.

According to him, good nutrition fulfilment will directly impact children’s growth and development, both physically and in terms of cognitive abilities.

He assessed that a healthy and intelligent young generation is the main key for Indonesia to compete with other countries amid increasingly competitive global dynamics.

Therefore, the existence of SPPG must be viewed as an important instrument in national development.

“Our mission is to build Indonesian children who are physically healthy, mentally healthy, intelligent, so they can compete with other countries,” he said.

Although profits remain part of SPPG operations, he said that is not the main goal.

According to him, the sustainability of the programme is determined by the managers’ commitment to maintaining service quality and ensuring the distribution of nutritious food runs well and on target.

On that occasion, Zulhas also emphasised the importance of integrity and professionalism in SPPG management.

He reminded all involved parties to carry out their mandate with full responsibility, given that the programme concerns the future of the nation’s generation.

In addition, he invited SPPG heads and foundation partners to work with full dedication and sincerity.

According to him, the success of the nutritious meal programme is not only determined by the system but also by the spirit of service from the implementers in the field.

“I ask you to work with heart, with love for the Red and White, love for our children,” he said.

The Lecture and Dialogue event themed “Trustworthy and Professional SPPG Management” was attended by 300 SPPG heads and foundation partners throughout Banyumas.

The forum serves as a means to strengthen coordination, enhance managers’ capacity, and align perceptions regarding the implementation of the nutrition fulfilment programme in the region.

Through this activity, all stakeholders are expected to become increasingly solid in supporting the national nutritious meal programme, so that its benefits can be widely felt by the community, especially children as the nation’s next generation.
