Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Says Manufacturing Investment Continues to Flow into Indonesia
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has emphasised that investment, particularly in the manufacturing sector, continues to flow into Indonesia. “Investment is still moving, including in Indonesia where several investments are still coming in. We know that in several special economic zones, such as the economic zone in East Java, JIIPE (Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate), and also the economic zone on Bintan Island, demand from industries planning to invest is increasing,” Airlangga said at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs office in Jakarta on Monday (22/6).
Airlangga also stated that the government is still receiving several plans for the development of economic zones and industrial estates, which serves as evidence that incoming investment to Indonesia continues to progress. “So indeed we are receiving several development plans for areas, both economic zones and industrial estates,” he explained.
He added that the government continues to promote People’s Business Credit (KUR) which will be channelled to labour-intensive sectors. “We have just discussed this and we will continue to maintain it, both for investment and for working capital,” he concluded.
