Coordinating Minister Cak Imin Inaugurates BPJS Health and Employment Directors for 2026-2031 Term
Jakarta — Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, commonly known as Cak Imin, has inaugurated the new boards of supervisors and directors of BPJS Health and BPJS Employment for the 2026-2031 term.
The inaugurations were carried out pursuant to Presidential Decrees No. 17/P of 2026 and No. 18/P of 2026 concerning the dismissal and appointment of members of the boards of supervisors and directors of both institutions.
Prihati Pujowaskito has been entrusted with the role of President Director of BPJS Health for the 2026-2031 period, whilst Saiful Hidayat has been appointed President Director of BPJS Employment.
Cak Imin expressed gratitude and optimism regarding the leadership renewal at BPJS, which he described as the spearhead of the national social security system.
He noted that, in line with the spirit of Presidential Instruction 8/2025, social security constitutes a crucial instrument for improving public welfare.
"As part of the duties of the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment, my team and I are tasked with ensuring that the state empowers its people to live productively and with dignity," Cak Imin said at the Coordinating Ministry's office in Central Jakarta on Friday, 20 February 2026.
"Productive means being able to move beyond social assistance towards sustainable self-reliance — and this is the essence of community empowerment," he added.
He emphasised that empowerment does not stop at poverty alleviation but must build social resilience, economic competitiveness, and provide a sense of security so that people can live free from risk.
BPJS Health, he continued, must ensure that people do not lose their capacity due to health risks, whilst BPJS Employment plays a role in protecting workers and their families from occupational risks, redundancy, accidents, and death — all of which have the potential to push them into poverty.
"Together with community empowerment, BPJS Health, and various ministries and institutions, we will remain committed to serving the public's healthcare needs to the best of our ability, and we will certainly serve within the coverage we can provide," he said.
Cak Imin further reminded the appointees that the positions they hold represent a great mandate as a manifestation of the state's presence in delivering welfare. He called on all members of the boards of supervisors and directors to prioritise the interests of the people and carry out their duties with integrity, innovation, collaboration, and sincerity.
Cak Imin also reaffirmed collaborative commitments already in place. Together with BPJS Employment, the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment is committed to providing affordable rental housing for workers through the Additional Service Benefits (MLT) scheme.
