Jakarta, VIVA – Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, commonly known as Cak Imin, has stated that recipients of the premium assistance programme (PBI) under BPJS Health Insurance now account for 52 per cent of Indonesia’s total population.

Cak Imin explained that 100 million BPJS Health Insurance participants are covered by the central government, whilst approximately 50 million participants are covered by regional governments through the PBI scheme.

“As of today, the number of people receiving premium assistance for BPJS Health Insurance has reached 52 per cent of our entire population, standing at approximately 152 million people receiving BPJS Health Insurance premium assistance,” Cak Imin said at a press conference on Monday, 16 February 2026.

“The central government covers nearly 100 million, whilst regional governments through regional PBI cover around 50 million,” he added.

He also assured that the implementation of the national health insurance programme, particularly for communities receiving premium assistance, would be well managed.

“Especially for communities receiving premium assistance or Premium Assistance Recipients (PBI), services will continue to be delivered properly,” he said.

Nevertheless, Cak Imin noted that the data on premium assistance recipients is dynamic and subject to frequent changes.

“Some pass away, some are born, some move up in economic class, some move down. This constant flux in data demands that we never cease our consolidation efforts, including today’s consolidation of all socio-economic data, particularly National Health Insurance data for premium assistance recipients,” Cak Imin concluded.
