Jakarta, VIVA – Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, commonly known as Cak Imin, has announced that approximately 106,000 BPJS Kesehatan members in the subsidised contribution recipient (PBI) segment suffering from catastrophic illnesses have had their memberships reactivated.

“Of all the subsidy recipients, God willing, around 106,000 people experiencing catastrophic health conditions have been reactivated,” Cak Imin said at a press conference on Monday, 16 February 2026.

Cak Imin acknowledged that some BPJS PBI members remain deactivated, explaining that there were reasons behind the deactivations.

“There are still some who have been deactivated. It must be explained that the deactivation is because some recipients are no longer eligible, as their economic circumstances have improved,” he said.

Cak Imin stated that the deactivations were carried out to ensure subsidised contributions reach the intended beneficiaries.

“The deactivations are part of a framework to ensure that contribution subsidy recipients are properly targeted — namely those in income deciles 1 to 5,” he concluded.

It was previously reported that Cak Imin said subsidised contribution recipients of BPJS Kesehatan had reached 52 per cent of Indonesia’s total population.

Cak Imin explained that approximately 100 million BPJS Kesehatan members are covered by the central government, whilst around 50 million members are covered by regional governments through the regional PBI scheme.

“As of today, the number of people receiving contribution subsidies for BPJS Kesehatan has reached 52 per cent of our entire population, approximately 152 million people receiving BPJS Kesehatan contribution subsidies,” Cak Imin said.

“The central government covers nearly 100 million, whilst regional governments through the regional PBI scheme cover around 50 million,” he added.
