Coordinating Minister Airlangga Urges Ambassadors to Oversee Investment Realisation from Prabowo's Visits

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has requested that ambassadors from friendly nations help oversee the realisation of investments arising from various memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed during President Prabowo Subianto’s visits to several countries. The request was made by Airlangga during his keynote speech at the Kadin Indonesia Monthly Economic Diplomatic Breakfast themed ‘Beyond Uncertainty: Building Indonesia’s Next Economy’ in Jakarta on Friday. According to Airlangga, the involvement of ambassadors is necessary so that the various cooperation commitments that have been agreed upon can be promptly transformed into tangible investment in Indonesia. He stated that amidst global economic uncertainty driven by geopolitical dynamics, climate change, and technological developments, Indonesia needs to strengthen its economic diplomacy by engaging the government, the business community, and international partners. This collaboration is crucial to maintaining investment flows while accelerating national economic growth. On the occasion, Airlangga also affirmed that Indonesia remains open to foreign investment. The government is accelerating the completion of various Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA), pushing forward the accession process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and making accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) a strategic priority. He noted that government-to-government relations require business-to-business execution behind them, and high-level agreements must be converted into trade, investment, and ultimately jobs. Airlangga expressed hope that synergy between the government, business actors, and ambassadors could accelerate investment realisation, strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness, and maintain national economic resilience amidst evolving global challenges.
