Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has said that investment activity has shown more even distribution in terms of location during the first half of 2026.

“In terms of investment, it is now almost 50 percent in Java and 50 percent outside Java. So a better balance has been achieved,” Airlangga said in a brief interview at his office in Jakarta on Thursday.

Based on data from the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Indonesia’s realised investment in the first half of 2026 reached Rp1,010.6 trillion, growing 7.2 percent year-on-year (yoy).

On a quarterly basis, realised investment in the second quarter of 2026 was recorded at Rp511.8 trillion, an increase of 7.1 percent (yoy).

In terms of investment location, investment outside Java continued to dominate in the second quarter of 2026 with a value of Rp256.5 trillion (50.1 percent), while investment in Java reached Rp255.3 trillion (49.9 percent). “This shows the increasingly even spread of investment across various regions of Indonesia,” he said.

The five provinces with the largest investment realisation were DKI Jakarta (Rp94.9 trillion), West Java (Rp61.3 trillion), North Maluku (Rp40.2 trillion), East Java (Rp40.1 trillion), and Central Sulawesi (Rp36.6 trillion).

Furthermore, Coordinating Minister Airlangga said the downstreaming sector remains a key directive from President Prabowo Subianto to be further promoted this year, particularly to support national export performance.

“The President also directed that in addition to the downstreaming sector that has already been established, regarding DSI (Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia) as the single export agent, the data also shows positive results in relation to our export prices,” Airlangga said.
