Coordinating Minister Airlangga: DSI to Strengthen Oversight and Governance of Natural Resource Exports
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the establishment of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (Persero), or DSI, as the sole exporter of strategic natural resources (SDA) will strengthen national export oversight and governance through a single export mechanism.
According to Airlangga, the policy is expected to enhance the transparency, quality, and validity of Indonesia’s SDA export data.
Thus, DSI’s presence is anticipated to prevent export fraud practices such as under-invoicing, transfer pricing, and capital flight.
“This regulation strengthens export oversight and governance. Once again, it is about strengthening export oversight and governance,” Airlangga said at a press conference on Sunday, 31 May 2026.
The formation of DSI follows the Government Regulation (PP) on SDA Export Governance previously announced by President Prabowo Subianto on 20 May 2026.
The regulation mandates that exports of three strategic SDA commodities—crude palm oil (CPO), coal, and iron alloys—must be conducted by a designated state-owned enterprise (BUMN) as the sole exporter, which is DSI.
The policy takes effect from 1 June 2026, with a transition period until 31 December 2026, before full implementation on 1 January 2027.
Airlangga stressed that DSI’s role is expected to improve the credibility of export value data for these three strategic SDA commodities, which are crucial as the main pillars of Indonesia’s exports.
He noted that these strategic SDA commodities recorded export values of US$66.13 billion, or approximately 23.4% of total national exports in 2025.
These commodities, he added, are also the primary contributors to Indonesia’s 71 consecutive months of trade surplus.
“The recorded export values will accurately reflect actual export transactions, ensuring optimal national obligations and revenue from export activities,” he added.
Furthermore, Danantara’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dony Oskaria stated that DSI, as the sole exporter of strategic SDA commodities, aims to achieve two main added values.
First, DSI is expected to prevent export fraud and ultimately contribute to increased national revenue from strategic SDA exports.
