Coordinating Minister AHY Prioritises Basic Infrastructure and Connectivity for 2027
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development (IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said that basic infrastructure development and connectivity will be his ministry’s priorities in 2027 to support economic growth and equitable development. He stated that infrastructure development is not solely oriented towards physical construction, but also to support various national priority agendas, such as food security, energy security, clean water provision, improving human resources quality, and strengthening inter-regional connectivity. “Infrastructure is not built just for the sake of building infrastructure, but ultimately it is oriented towards supporting a number of national priority agendas,” AHY said after a working meeting of the House of Representatives’ Budget Committee at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday. According to him, the Coordinating Ministry for IPK coordinates five technical ministries and several related agencies to ensure national development proceeds on target and provides direct benefits to the public. “Therefore, we will prioritise basic infrastructure development that can ease the burden on the public while making people’s lives more decent, including in the housing sector and other general connectivity,” he said. He added that his ministry will also strengthen coordination, monitoring, and evaluation functions in the field to ensure the implementation of various infrastructure projects proceeds according to target. According to AHY, the task of a coordinating ministry is not limited to coordination at the central level, but also includes directly overseeing the implementation of development programmes in the regions.
