Coordinating Minister AHY Prepares Military Academy Cadets for Global Challenges

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) gave a briefing to cadets of the Military Academy (Akmil) on global challenges, ahead of their commissioning as Indonesian Army (TNI AD) officers by President Prabowo Subianto.

Speaking to journalists in Magelang on Saturday, AHY said the briefing was delivered ahead of the cadets’ inauguration as Army officers by President Prabowo Subianto.

“Soon they will be commissioned as officers by President Prabowo Subianto. I am present with a sense of pride, seeing the successor generation who possess optimism as well as various strengths to carry out the duties of the state,” he said.

As an alumnus of the Military Academy, AHY also encouraged the cadets to broaden their horizons and understand various global trends expected to shape the world over the next five, ten, and twenty-five years.

In his view, a TNI officer must not only master military capabilities and skills, but also understand geopolitical dynamics, global economic developments, and national development challenges, including in the field of infrastructure.

“The officers of the future must have a broad perspective on the changes taking place in the world. They need to understand the opportunities and challenges facing Indonesia so that they can make their best contribution to the nation,” he said.

He expressed hope that the future officers would not only succeed in their military careers, but also become leaders who bring benefits to society.

AHY also commended the Military Academy, which he assessed as being consistent in producing Indonesian Army personnel who are professional, of strong character, and ready to face the challenges of the future.
