Coordinating Minister AHY Prepares Military Academy Cadets for Global Challenges

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) provided a briefing to Military Academy cadets on global challenges ahead of their commissioning as Indonesian Army officers by President Prabowo Subianto. Speaking to journalists in Magelang on Saturday, AHY said the briefing was given in preparation for the cadets’ inauguration. “They will soon be commissioned as officers by President Prabowo Subianto. I am here with a sense of pride seeing the next generation who possess both optimism and various strengths to carry out the nation’s duties,” he said. As an alumnus of the Military Academy, AHY also encouraged the cadets to broaden their horizons and understand global trends expected to influence the world in the next five, 10, and 25 years. He assessed that Army officers must not only master military capabilities and skills but also understand geopolitical dynamics, global economic developments, and national development challenges, including in the infrastructure sector. “Future officers must have a broad perspective on various global changes. They need to understand the opportunities and challenges facing Indonesia in order to make the best contribution to the nation,” he stated. He expressed hope that the prospective officers would not only succeed in their military careers but also become leaders who benefit society. AHY also commended the Military Academy for consistently producing professional, character-driven Army personnel ready to face future challenges.
