Coordinating Minister AHY: Potential Exports of Durian from Parigi Moutong to Reach Rp1 Trillion This Year
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Menko IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has stated that the value of exports of durian commodities from the transmigration area in Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi, has the potential to reach Rp1 trillion in 2026.
He said there is significant demand from consumers and markets in China for Indonesian durian commodities.
“In a three-month period (January-March 2026), the durian exports from Parigi Moutong could be worth up to Rp400 billion, meaning that in one year, more than Rp1 trillion could be exported to China,” said Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono in Jakarta on Wednesday.
On the same occasion, Transmigration Minister (Mentrans) Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara stated that his side would soon visit Parigi Moutong to witness the export of tens of thousands of tonnes of durian to China.
He mentioned that the Parigi Moutong area has one of the largest durian orchards in Indonesia and even the world.
“That is just one concrete example of the impact of economic development in the transmigration area,” said Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara.
On Monday (13/4), Mentrans Iftitah met with the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Wang Lutong, to discuss the potential for the Bamboo Curtain country to become an offtaker or buyer of Indonesian durian commodity production.
The durian export cooperation between the two countries will begin with the export of frozen durian, before later being developed to include fresh durian, which is more favoured by the Chinese market.
According to data from the Parigi Moutong Regency Government, the Bahari Tomini Raya Transmigration Area located in the regency records an annual durian production of 903.9 tonnes.
