Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) visited the State Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) building in Bogor City to inspect firsthand the progress of rehabilitation and repair works on the school building, which had previously collapsed. “I am currently at the State Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Bogor City to directly inspect the rehabilitation and renovation progress of this madrasah, which has been carried out by colleagues from the Ministry of Public Works, who are also working closely with the Ministry of Religious Affairs,” AHY said in Bogor City on Friday (19/6/2026). AHY’s visit was accompanied by Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim and Deputy Mayor Jenal Mutaqin. AHY stated that a total of 127 madrasahs in West Java are targeted under President Prabowo’s priority programme for the rehabilitation and renovation of educational facilities. “Earlier, I received an explanation that the rehabilitation and renovation progress of this madrasah is around 95 per cent. So it will be completed soon,” AHY said. “This is one of many Madrasah Tsanawiyah being renovated. In West Java Province alone, there are 127 Madrasah Tsanawiyah, and across Indonesia, as part of the quick best results programme which is also a priority of President Prabowo Subianto,” he added. During his visit, AHY toured the building and engaged in dialogue with students in their classrooms. His arrival was enthusiastically welcomed by the students. AHY was seen chatting with several students, asking about their individual interests and talents. AHY noted that the priority programme to strengthen school infrastructure was a response to the incident of a pesantren building collapse in Sidoarjo, East Java, some time ago. The repair targets are school buildings under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. “This is also a response to the incident last year in Sidoarjo, East Java. Last September, a building at an Islamic boarding school collapsed, resulting in very heartbreaking fatalities,” AHY said. “We hope that educational facility buildings, not only those under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, which we are also continuing to renovate, but also those under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, whether at the early childhood, primary, or secondary education level, can be improved.” Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim said AHY responded positively to the rehabilitation progress at the State MTs in Bogor City. Dedie mentioned that AHY encouraged the construction of another state madrasah in Bogor. “He seemed to have a desire to continue facilitating how these educational facilities can be of quality as expected. So we are grateful he came and saw it directly, and he seemed quite satisfied with the quality of construction carried out by the Ministry of Public Works,” Dedie said. “The Coordinating Minister also asked whether it would be possible to add another State MTs in Bogor City. This means we will try to find suitable land to propose to the Ministry of Religious Affairs for the construction of MTs Negeri 2 Bogor,” he added.
