The Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), commenced a working visit to East Java by inaugurating a redeveloped area in Gresik Regency, as part of government efforts to improve residential quality.

Herzaky Mahendra Putra, Special Staff for Communication and Public Information at the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, stated that the settlement redevelopment programme is designed to create a healthier, safer, and more livable environment. “This programme is part of the government’s efforts to enhance housing quality, create healthier and safer environments, and ultimately provide a better quality of life for the community,” he said in a statement in Gresik on Saturday.

He explained that the redevelopment of residential areas is a development priority being driven by the government through collaboration between various ministries, local governments, and diverse stakeholders. According to Herzaky, Minister AHY’s working visit to East Java on 1-2 August 2026 aims to ensure that infrastructure development is not merely focused on physical construction but also provides direct benefits to the community and supports regional economic strengthening.

The redevelopment programme is part of the implementation of the Integrated Slum Settlement Handling Thematic Special Allocation Fund (DAK Tematik PPKT) in Campurejo Village, Panceng District, Gresik Regency. The area, spanning 8.97 hectares and comprising 246 housing units, has been revitalised through the construction and upgrading of residential units, neighbourhood roads, drainage, drinking water networks, sanitation, and an integrated waste management system.
