Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) stated that 127 madrasahs in West Java are currently being rehabilitated and renovated to provide comfort to students. “Earlier, I received an explanation that the rehabilitation and renovation progress of this madrasah (MTSN Kota Bogor) is around 95 per cent, so it will be completed soon,” said AHY in Bogor City, West Java, on Friday. While inspecting the West Java Madrasah Best Fast Results Programme (PHTC) Rehabilitation and Renovation Project, AHY said the programme covers 127 madrasahs, from the ibtidaiyah (primary) level to the aliyah (upper secondary) level. He expressed hope that the rehabilitation and renovation programme would provide a sense of safety and comfort for both students and their teachers. “This is one of many tsanawiyah madrasahs being renovated. In West Java Province alone, there are 127 madrasahs,” he said. According to available data, the rehabilitation and reconstruction at MTSN Kota Bogor cost a total of Rp5.5 billion, with construction works amounting to Rp4.09 billion and furniture costing Rp1.45 billion. The construction work includes replacing frames, roofs, doors, windows, painting, and other tasks, while the furniture component involves replacing all chairs and desks in every classroom with new ones. “Hopefully, the renovation and rehabilitation will boost morale,” he added.
