Coordinating Minister AHY Focuses Bali Development on Four Clusters

Denpasar (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) is focusing the development of the Bali region on four clusters.

“I want to focus on four clusters; these four clusters are the effort to develop Bali that I hope we can oversee together,” he said at the Bali Regional Development Coordination Meeting in Denpasar on Monday.

The Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure said the tourism sector is the main cluster, given that Bali’s tourism successfully contributed Rp176 trillion of the Rp319.9 trillion in tourism foreign exchange.

Some 45.8 percent of foreign tourists who came to Indonesia in 2025 entered through Bali, so the opportunity, as well as the challenge, is how tourism continues to grow while ensuring that nature is not exploited.

Second is connectivity, where he highlighted the traffic congestion that frequently becomes a viral issue on the Island of the Gods.

The Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure asserted that the government is obliged to prepare various alternative solutions for regular connectivity corridors, especially in South Bali as the centre of activity, particularly during the holiday season.

Third, he noted that environmental quality is declining due to the large number of tourists and problems with waste, water pollution and coastal erosion.
