Coordinating Minister AHY: Eco-friendly materials drive sustainable development
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono is encouraging the use of more environmentally friendly building materials as part of efforts to achieve sustainable infrastructure development in Indonesia.
According to Yudhoyono, familiarly known as AHY, the construction sector plays a strategic role in supporting national economic growth because it creates jobs, increases the use of domestically produced materials, and drives economic activity across various regions.
“Infrastructure development not only improves connectivity but also expands employment absorption, increases material usage, and drives economic growth across the whole of Indonesia,” AHY said at the opening of IndoBuildTech Expo 2026 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD in Tangerang.
In a written statement from Propan Raya received in Jakarta on Wednesday, AHY said infrastructure development is no longer focused solely on physical aspects but must also take environmental sustainability into account. For this reason, the use of greener materials and technologies must become part of the national development ecosystem.
He said collaboration between the government and industry players is key to delivering innovations capable of supporting sustainable development targets while strengthening the competitiveness of the national construction sector.
AHY considers IndoBuildTech Expo 2026 an important platform for bringing together industry players, associations, academics, and the government to introduce innovations in more efficient and sustainable building materials.
“Going forward, development must be able to meet the needs of society whilst safeguarding environmental sustainability. That is why innovation and the use of more environmentally friendly materials are extremely important,” he said.
IndoBuildTech Expo 2026 runs from 8 to 12 July 2026 at ICE BSD in Tangerang and involves hundreds of companies from the building materials, construction, and infrastructure support technology sectors.
The exhibition showcases a range of the latest innovations, including water-based coating products, low-emission building materials, and technologies supporting green development and energy efficiency from Propan Raya.
