Coordinating Minister AHY Breaks Ground on Summarecon Transit Oriented Development at Bekasi Extension Station

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), has officiated the groundbreaking ceremony to commence construction of the Bekasi Extension Station, which forms part of the Summarecon Transit Oriented Development (TOD). AHY stated that he strongly welcomed this initiative, as the construction of the Bekasi Extension Station is not merely about physical infrastructure development. “The hope is that it will also become an increasingly productive area supporting mobility, ease of community activities, and its development in accordance with the principles of Indonesia’s Transit Oriented Development (TOD),” AHY said in a statement on Saturday, 25 July 2026. President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, Adrianto P. Adhi, said that the construction of the Bekasi Extension Station, which is part of the Summarecon TOD, represents a synergy between the private sector and the government in realising the concept of transit-oriented area development. Previously, when initiating the Summarecon Bekasi development in 2010, Summarecon had built the 1-kilometre K.H. Noer Ali Flyover in Summarecon Bekasi. Built spanning over the railway crossing, it facilitates connectivity for Bekasi City residents living on the north and south sides of the tracks, and serves as a solution to break up the congestion that frequently occurs on Jalan Perjuangan. “We are grateful that today Summarecon has again been given the opportunity to play a role in answering the needs of the Indonesian people, especially in the Bekasi area,” said Adrianto. He emphasised that Summarecon also wants to contribute through a partnership with the Government to improve accessibility services, making it easier and more comfortable for the public to access mass transportation, namely the railway. With the presence of the Bekasi Extension Station as part of the Summarecon TOD, he believes that Bekasi residents will avoid passenger overcrowding. This is because the Bekasi Extension Station will serve passengers coming from the west and south, while the existing Bekasi Station will primarily serve the public from the north and east. “This initiative will support more efficient public mobility, enhance regional connectivity, and create a more sustainable urban environment,” he said.
